In addition to local favorites Acoustic Endeavors from Roanoke, country stars Heartland and Billy Currington provided the music. One of our Dynacord Cobra systems proved once again to be the perfect solution for the sold out show. This year we added the Roland V-Mix to FOH duties. Our new Phoenix monitors were controlled by a MacBook Pro on stage connected wirelessly to the FOH desk running Roland M400-RCS remote control system software.

...So I came into the V Mixer after seeing and using the S 4000 Digital snake by Roland, It was clean, quiet, had imperceptible latency AND fit in the passenger seat of my truck.

... I wasn’t too surprised to see Roland Boxes at Carey Sound, as I mentioned before, I am a geek, geeks know geeks, and Ken is a geek too. ... So when I was told how cool it was, and how good it worked and how well it sounded and how many had already been installed, I knew it was time to take a closer look.

... First of all, everything sounded fine, the sound was smooth and quiet (not too many consoles are with 30 open mics) everything I needed was right where it should be and responded flawlessly.

... We had the same orchestra playing but this was my show, my mics, my speaker facing (well, ok, the school’s) I was confident in the console, so I changed my inputs a bit for my inventory and to experiment with some other mic techniques. ... I talked to John Carey, who’s been getting his time on the console too, he said he has been TRYING to get it to crash, but with no success.

...Roland did things right with the V Mixer, exceptional audio quality, ease of use, a versatile and compact snake system all able to fit in the back of my Nissan Versa. ... I would suggest anyone in the market for a new mixing system to look at the Roland V Mixer; I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but...

Over the years a lot of people have worked for CareySound so it’s not unusual for one of them to use their time with us as a reference but this newest twist is just down right bizarre.

Twice in recent months, while closing on new installs, we have been surprised to find that we had been bidding against ourselves so to speak. Our competitors, two different local companies no less, were claiming in their bids that the audio had been designed by and was being supplied by CareySound. One can only assume that they thought by invoking our name they had a much better chance in securing the job. While we are flattered that they hold us in such regard we are more than a little alarmed that our name is being invoked by these inferior interlopers without our knowledge or consent. Not only have we never worked with these companies before, we have never even employed anyone working for them.

...Please insist on the genuine article and look for the SoundMan™ on the label. While John stayed in Greensboro for the annual fireworks concert CareySound also traveled to Elizabeth City to help them celebrate the holiday as well. There we were treated to the musical fireworks of Mountain Heart. They are definitely not your dad’s bluegrass band. They might should think should about a name change - Mountain HEAT has a nice ring to it.

After a record involvement in over 90 events, 30 in last years festival alone, they have decided to move on without CareySound this year. With money being tight for everyone I hope their abbreviated lineup and new production providers works out for them and we wish them well.

It was a privilege to have worked with so many world class artists over the years. The following pictures are just a sampling of our fond memories.

Utilizing the Roland REAC digital network backbone running on inexpensive and flexible twisted-pair Cat 5e cabling the Wilson Mills Baptist Church’s V-Mix System takes a complete digital end-to-end system approach to audio distribution and control. It solves many of the problems that plague other digital audio solutions and analogue audio installations and allows for an easily expandable system.

Building the new audio system around the Roland RSS, systems integrator CareySound was able to contain costs and create an easy to use experience for the church that is high in features, including the built in ability to record the services, and low in maintenance. Call CareySound today to show you how this new system can work for you.

To stay in business you are increasingly expected to provide it all, hence our growth into staging, backline, lighting, video, recording and, as I later declared “we provide everything but the band,” booking agent.

...I was being asked to provide these services and I could not find any willing partners to provide the requested services so it was left to me to add them to our repertoire. ... ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’ comes to mind and not in the sense of true polymaths like Leonardo da Vince, Isaac Newton or Thomas Jefferson. More like “Hi, I’m Larry and this is my brother Darrel and this is my other brother Darrel” and their ‘Anything for a Buck’ business as portrayed on the 80’s sitcom Newhart . ... This has gone to the extreme where I found a picture yesterday of my staging specialist operating a video camera on a competitors web site proclaiming him to be a video specialist. He is a really great person and a handy guy willing to tackle whatever needs to be done, but he is not a video professional, he was just available.

...As I announced last week in my post Old Friends - New Partners that a great friend and colleague of mine, Jim Reese and his company Joe Mamas Mobile Staging, is the latest specialist to partner with CareySound joining Sterling AV (A/V specialist), Road King (backline specialist), Here 2 Hear (recording specialist), SRO Productions (artist booking specialist) and GoodBuyGuys.com (expendables specialists). All of these respected, like minded businesses working together as a team to bring you the best possible professionals to provide you the best possible experience not one company trying to everything to everybody. So when you call CareySound or any my friends you get an entire team of professional specialists working their hardest for you.
