It's Now Officially Summer

The return of Music for a Sunday Evening in the Park (MUSEP) heralds the official start of summer in Greensboro once again. Even the rain last Sunday evening could not dampen the enthusiasm for the new season of free weekly concerts hosted in various parks thorough the city by the Music Center, City Arts of the Greensboro City Parks and Recreation Department.

A couple of years ago the city cut funding for the sumer series and the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro took over the financial responsibilities allowing the over 20 year old program to continue. Considering the series to be a valuable community resource the Foundation combined it with another annual city concert series, The Barber Park Series, and expanded the experience by providing additional resources to allow adding a second performing group to most of the concert dates. This years MUSEP series now covers 17 Sundays with 25 different musical groups.

CareySound has been providing audio production for the event for most of its history and proudly continues that tradition again this year. The series presents a demanding audio challenge. Audience sizes vary between 2 to 8 thousand and ages range from toddles to retirees. The musical groups cover every thing from large 60 piece concert bands and symphony orchestras to jazz trios and folk. All of this diversity requires a great deal of flexability in an audio system. The next MUSEP concert is this Sunday, June 4th, at Foust Park behind Aycock Auditorium on the campus of UNC-Greensboro and begins promptly at 6:00 PM with the jazz stylings of the Dave Fox Group and is followed at 7:15 PM by the group FourForOne. Bring your friends, neighbors and family along with a blanket & picnic dinner and join us. It's the perfect way to spend an evening in the park and it's free.
