Smoke & Fire
For those of you that
don't already know, CareySound team member and
SoundMan's progeny, John, has his own website,
twistedsun.net. What began over five years
ago as an outlet for his creative (non-audio)
musings quickly became a popular site for
desktop pictures (that's wallpaper for you pc
types) and his online photography portfolio.
Many of his photo's have graced this site as
well. Well, it seems that the lure of music and
live audio has taken over more of his life and
his web site relects this change.
Sprinkled throughout his sprawling site are more
and more audio ramblings, the latest of which
can be found by clicking
here. It's seems that a traveling studio
engineer posing as a live soundguy and the it's
'good enough for rock-n-roll' sound gear
flooding the audio marketplace have fired him up
on this post. It's well worth a click and even
the old SoundMan himself has gotten into the
action in the comments section of the post.
Needless to say dad's very proud of his offspring,
but this recommendation to add this site to your
bookmarks is more than just an old SoundMan
bragging about his kids. Think of this as a
realtime journal of a budding new SoundMan's
experiences (and the pictures are not bad to look
at either).
Part 3
We have added a new album to our Production Section - CareySound In Action Part 3. You can find it in the menu to the right.

What Happened To The Last MUSEP?
It seems that Greensboro's new privately owned (publicly maintained - read our tax dollars) center city park needs a little more work. Let's see now - compare the first photo taken on Sunday with the MUSEP held there in June of 2004...
and...
it's the incredible shrinking park. Somehow I don't think all of those "improvements" will allow for a MUSEP sized audience. It's amazing how they have turned a wonderful, wildly successful, and not to mention low maintenance community gathering spot on the grass in the middle of the city and turned it into a concrete, stone, shrubs, oh yes, let's not forget the major
Future Techies Of America
I'd put Ms. Veronica Peagler's Technical Theater Students from Ligon Middle School in Raleigh up against any tech crew in the state. Yep - All middle school students. It was truly exciting working with this crew. When asked where they got their tech chops from they all answered in unison Ms. V. I hope they invite us back for some more tech talk.
A Whirlwind Week Of Jazz
The mission of the
Thelonious Monk Institute of
Jazz is to offer public school-based jazz
education programs for young people around the
world, helping students develop imaginative
thinking, creativity, curiosity, a positive self
image, and a respect for their own and others'
cultural heritage.
The Institute's, highly regarded Jazz in America
programs are tailored for middle schooland high
school students to help develop an understanding
and appreciation of jazz music. The series has
traveled to over 20 states over the last two years
and strives to share the positive aspects of jazz
with young people who would otherwise not have the
opportunity to learn about this great national
treasure.
CareySound was honored to be asked to provide
production for the series as it traveled through
North Carolina this last week. It was six stops in
five days. A scaled down Cobra system with a
Dynacord CMS mixer, EV Sx300 monitors and KT
equalization provided quick setup and flawless
performance in a variety of venues.

SoundMan Spotted At Seafood Festival
SoundMan made himself at home in style this year in his official SoundMan traveling abode.
The weather provided some added excitement this year when a thunder storm accompanied high tide and flooded a large portion of the event site on Sunday morning. The water was so high at the docks that they almost had to cancel the Blessing Of The Fleet ceremony. Even SoundMan's Cruiser was not spared from the flood. Next year he said he was bringing a boat.
The only regret he had was that he slept trough it and didn't get any pictures of his home surrounded by water.
